I'm torn with my review of this book. There were elements that I thought were great. It was engaging, exciting and kept my attention. However, there were parts that seemed a little over the top in explaining Scripture inside this novel. I am a big fan of fantasy and especially when it incorporates Scripture and Biblical stories but there's something about this one that I was not impressed with. It could be that it's the authors first book so the others will be better written but I'm not so sure. There are other fantasy stories based on Biblical truths out there that are much better. I will say the author did a good job of showing it was the character's faith and trust in God that gave them their "powers".
